News- Crazy Love Series

Pastor Jim Jr will begin a five week series called "Crazy Love" on Sunday, September 5, 2010 in the 8:30 & 10:30 a.m. services.Beginning the first week of September, we will begin a series called “Crazy Love”. Crazy Love is a book written by author Francis Chan. In the book he challenges us to stop embracing the thought patterns our society is attempting to give us, and instead embrace the challenge that God puts before us, and that is to live out love in a way the world may call crazy, but indeed God commands us to do so.
Francis Chan is the pastor of Cornerstone church in Simi Valley, California. Recently, he has devoted much of his time to public speaking, educating students, and writing books such as Crazy Love.
Have you ever wondered if we’re missing something? It’s crazy if you think about it. The God of the universe—the creator of nitrogen and pine needles, galaxies and e-minor—loves us with a radical, unconditional, self-sacrificing love. And what is our typical response? We go to church, sing songs, and try not to cuss. Does something deep down inside your heart long to break free from the status quo? Are you hungry for an authentic faith that addresses the problems of our world with tangible, even radical solutions? Because the answer to religious complacency isn’t working harder at a list of do’s and don’ts—it’s falling in love with God. And once you encounter His love, as Francis describes it, you will never be the same.
We, as a church, are going to embark on a five week series, and I am excited as we begin to see and hear what God will do in our personal lives, our families, and our church as we minister to those around us in our very own community.
We will be taking the challenge to show Gods love in a practical yet crazy way, a way that will cause others to ask, “Why are they doing that?” It will then create an opportunity to share the love of Jesus.
We will also be communicating how small groups can be involved with an on-going curriculum through these five weeks. If you are not currently plugged into a small group, this will be a great chance to birth some new ones.
